As requested, I was asked to provide some details on the pantry as well as the laundry room recently. No problem! Let me know if you need anything else, folks.
OH, while we are in the mudroom/laundry/pantry area, I wanted to let you know we added an outlet in the mudroom area and also in the laundry room. There weren't any in our plans. I thought about if there would be a time to need a fan or heater to dry shoes... you never know.
I WISH I would've had them put an additional light switch where you turn on the light in the hall in front of the pantry, to be able to turn on the light in the mudroom area too. We have to walk through a darker area to get to the light switch to the door that leads to the garage.
2 items to check with your PM is attic access and the return vent. In several pictures and videos, the return vent is in the living room and I didn't want to risk the possible sound OR the cosmetic part of it. Luckily, the HVAC person put it right where I wanted! It's in the kitchen on the ceiling right before you leave the kitchen to go to the foyer area of the house. PERFECT. In our last house, they put the attic access in a bedroom and we had begged to have it in the laundry room. Check with the PM... our plans have it in the laundry and we verified it. YAY! Of course there is another in the garage, too.
Now for the requested pictures.
Pantry
Both doors open! Ta Da! The "Wine Cellar!" White drawers on floor are the snacks the kids know they can munch on without help. We buy bulk a lot and it's great! Length from wall to wall is about 84" wide by 35" deep. |
Taking a look to the left from down low. I have a tape measure in there and will zoom in soon. Pinterest has some cool ideas on how to jazz up the wire shelves to make it flat and cosmetically nicer. I've got a full time job and 3 kids and a hubby. At this point, I'm excited to see a can of soup I can serve!
Looking right. Cereal does need to lay on side if on a lower shelf but isn't an issue.
Looking to the very right. |
Measures about 35 inches from the back wall to the door frame for depth. Looking to the right. Love the depth! |
Most left side. Nice little shelf area of about 17 inches. Shelves are 12" deep. I'm not sure why I have duct tape in here. |
Again, standing in the pantry and now looking to the right. 23" inches on this side until you get the door. |
Standing in the pantry and looking left so you can see the little bit of wall space to where the doors are. |
Laundry Room
As big as we could get for the area. I'm thinking around 4.8cuft capacity washer and dryer. Samsung. There is a shelf above it. I'm 5'5" and can't really reach anything on it since I have a monster washer and dryer that sticks out. The hubs helps (He's 6'4"). |
Not sure if this helps but there is decent space between the washer and tub. |
I had to get this with my arms outstretched above me. :) Tub and room for a hamper for our towels. We hang some clothes to dry on the back of the door. |
Trying to show the floor space. My fleece jacket is a bit in the way. |
When I hang clothes and pull out of dryer, I close myself in the room, open the dryer door and hang or put in a basket. When the dryer door is open, you can't escape. |
Master Bathroom
Entering the bathroom, sink nearest to door. |
See the towel bar? They will try to put it right above the light switch when going in the door. The towels will cover the switch. The "had" to install it there for close and then after close, they changed it for me and fixed the original install. Basic bath but we upgraded floor tile and tiling in shower. Oil rubbed bronze upgrade in house changes shower edges. |
Sink opposite of shower side. I was hoping that sink would have cabinets all the way across, but nope. PM thought so too at first. Vent is right in middle. We put a drawer thing we already had. Something to think about later... |

Nice in the Winterbrook, we get 2 vents. One in water closet and one in main area. Make sure! Let them know where you want the vent and light or ask. We also put rice paper like stuff over the window (Home Depot) & asked the plumber to install the shower head high for the tall hubby. |
Yes, you want the little slits in the bottom side of the shower... weep holes. :)
